Practical reading before you talk to us

Three original pieces: a checklist for moving permits off paper, a plain-language path from incident to CAPA, and the permit workflow you can step through on this site.

Checklist

Permit digitisation checklist

Use this with your own procedure.

  1. 01Name the permit types you issue most often, and who requests each one.
  2. 02Write the approval order for each type, including isolation and closeout.
  3. 03List the evidence each stage must capture before the next person can act.
  4. 04Decide which fields are required before a request can move on.
  5. 05Map contractor competency and fitness checks to the permit, not a side spreadsheet.
  6. 06Agree how shift handover carries open permits and their conditions.
  7. 07Keep the closed permit, with its history, as the audit record.

Guide

From an incident report to a closed action

Plain language for the path teams already run. People still decide the cause and the closure.

01

Report

Someone on site records what happened, where, and what they did immediately. Photos and location stay with that report.

02

Investigate

A named person records causes, contributing factors and the controls that were in place. The system does not decide the cause.

03

Assign

Each corrective or preventive action gets one owner and a due date that supervisors can see.

04

Verify

The action closes when someone records evidence that the fix is in place. A named person makes that call.

Workflow

Step through a permit

Step through the six stages of a permit, one at a time.

Step 1 of 6

Request

Work party / permit requester

The requester raises the permit against a location, asset and task. The linked JHA and the planned work scope are attached before anyone reviews it.

Evidence captured on the permit record

  • Work scope and location
  • Linked JHA
  • Requester name and time

What the next person sees

The reviewer sees exactly what work is planned, where and by whom.

Bring one of these into the demo

A permit type or a recent incident is enough. We will use your example.
